Uricult Vet

Accurate Results for UTI

Uricult Vet is an accurate in-office urine culture system for the diagnosis of urinary tract infections in cats and dogs.

A Better In-House Approach

Have You Been Thinking About Performing Screenings For Urinary Tract Infections In Your Office For A Faster Turnaround Time And To Avoid The High Cost Of Reference Lab Fees?

Most likely you are relying on urine dipsticks and microscopic sediment exams to indicate signs of inflammation, white cells and/or bacteria to help with clinical decision making.

This method of screen may not always give you the information that you need to make an accurate diagnosis.

Several additional factors should be considered.

  • The lack of visible bacteria in the sediment can not rule out a UTI. In order for bacteria to be visible in the urine sediment under the microscope there would have to be over 100k/ml of bacteria present. Low grade non-symptomatic infections could possibly be overlooked.

  • With the high cost of reference lab fees for urine cultures and sensitivity, the delayed turnaround time and the questionable results due to specimen contamination during transit to the lab, there is clearly a need for a better and more cost effective way to screen for UTI in the office.

"Uricult has allowed me to practice better medicine. I have found with running urine cultures in-house allows me to control the process much better. It increases integrity of the sample by not letting the sample sit in the mail for days on the way to the lab, which gives the sample time to change thus it not representing what is really going on in the animal.

We have found this in-house urine culture system very beneficial for obtaining a quick urinary tract infection diagnosis.
